Monee Police Blotter: March 14 – 19

Spread the love

March 14, at 1 p.m., a Calumet City woman, 26, threw a minor hissy fit with Red Roof employees when they told her it was check out time. MPD persuaded her it was time to go. After calling everyone in sight derogatory names, she left. Red Roof declined to press charges.

March 15, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Samrio Shelby, 26, of Riverdale, was arrested for misdemeanor theft at the Amazon facility. An investigation by Loss Prevention resulted in Shelby being charged. He was bonded and released.

March 16, at approximately 5:55 p.m., officers responded to the 6600 block of Monee-Manhattan Road for a traffic crash. Both drivers declined medical checkups. The vehicles were removed, with both drivers cited. Dwayne Howard, 29, of Chicago, was issued a citation for improper turn, and Terriontez Jones, 28, of Kankakee, was cited for no insurance.

March 17, at approximately 5:30 a.m., MPD responded to a crash at Monee-Manhattan Road and Egyptian Trail, which turned out to be the aftermath of a domestic dispute at the Red Roof Inn. The disgruntled male, Jamison Moore, 44, of Kankakee, had driven away from the scene and decided to jump out of his moving vehicle, which then struck another vehicle before coming to rest on a large rock. Moore was cited for driving while revoked, no insurance, and improper lane use. His roommate at the Red Roof, declined to press charges.

March 18, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers were called to the Super 8 for a disturbance. Upon arrival, a very irate customer had scared the employees into locking themselves in the office. The subject had been throwing ‘Comet’ cleaner and a live lizard at the desk personnel. Officers were able to take him into custody. After speaking with the Cedar Lake man, 32, paramedics were called, and the subject was taken for a psych evaluation. The lizard was located in good condition.

March 19, at approximately 5:20 p.m., a Gary, IN, man, 41, was stopped for speeding near Pinewood Drive. Thaddius Adam Conrad was cited for driving while suspended, in addition to speeding. He was processed and bonded.

March 19, at approximately 5 a.m., Thomas Bailey, 41, of Calumet City, decided to take a nap at the stop light on the I-57 ramp at Monee-Manhattan Road. MPD was able to wake Bailey long enough to get his revoked driver’s license and a bottle of tequila. State Police then arrived on scene and volunteered to take Bailey. He was charged with DUI, among others, and transported for processing.

Anyone with information, or who wishes to speak to an officer, is asked to contact Det. DePaolo at 708-534-8308.
