Monee Police Blotter: January 10 – 15

January 10, at 9:30 a.m., a traffic stop ended with Bria Williams, 18, of Hammond, being cited for no valid driver’s license. Further investigation indicated the vehicle she was driving had been involved with a vehicular hijacking in Steger. The vehicle and driver were turned over to Steger officers for further investigation. A passenger, Ben Daron Napier Rufus Jr., 18, of Oak Forest, was ultimately charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking, armed robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and aiding and abetting a fugitive. Officers also recovered a 9mm Glock, with an extended magazine. Rufus Jr. is being held on a $1 million bond.

January 10, at approximately 10:10 p.m., an Eagle Drive domestic argument resulted in a Monee man being arrested on a Cook County warrant for failure to appear. Allen McCarthy, 53, was processed and bonded.

 

January 11, at 6 a.m., officers responded to a burglar alarm at the Tobacco Store in the 5700 block of Monee-Manhattan Road. Officers discovered entry had been made at the rear of the building, but the suspect(s) had fled. Further investigation showed that Schoops, next door, also had been burglarized. It appeared the suspects were unable to locate what they wanted and left empty handed. Investigation continues.

January 11, at approximately 1:20 a.m., Raymond Clark Jr, 21, of Hazel Crest, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear from Will County. Clark Jr. was able to post bond and released.

January 11, at approximately 9:40 a.m., Tony Davis, 25, of Sauk Village, was arrested for misdemeanor theft after Amazon Loss Prevention personnel observed him taking Apple products. He was processed and bonded.

January 11, at approximately 5 p.m., Elda Barrientos, 36, of Blue Island, was cited for no valid driver’s license and following too closely. Barrientos came to MPD’s attention after striking another vehicle on Monee-Manhattan Road near Cleveland. She was processed and bonded. Her vehicle was towed.

January 11, at approximately 10 p.m., Jaeda Neustadter, 22, of Chicago, was found driving with an expired registration. This quickly evolved into a driving while revoked arrest and a no proof of insurance citation. Neustadter was processed and bonded.

January 11, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a house fire in the 4500 block of Tulip. Upon arrival, the home was found to be mostly engulfed in flames. MTFPD responded to extinguish the fire. During cleanup, the fire department located a deceased female in the basement of the residence. The victim, Latoyea Sims, 28, was identified as the resident of the home. Investigations is following up, as well as the State Fire Marshall and MTFPD.

January 12, at approximately 6:15 p.m., MPD responded to an incident in which the subject had driven through a Lakeway Drive yard and was unresponsive. Officers determined the driver of the vehicle might be impaired and had him transported to St. James. After the subject was interviewed, he was charged with DUI, reckless driving, and improper lane use. Christopher Spencer, 46, of Monee, was processed and bonded.

January 13, at approximately 5 p.m., a traffic stop led to the arrest of Steven Washington, 59, of Chicago. Washington was cited for suspended registration, no valid driver’s license, no insurance, and speeding. He was processed and bonded.

January 14, at approximately 5:20 p.m., a traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Raymundo Rivera Jr., 24, of Chicago, for driving while suspended and no insurance. He was processed and bonded.

January 15, at approximately 5 p.m., a traffic stop led to the arrest of Byron Adams Jr., 27, of Sauk Village. Adams was cited for a suspended driver’s license, no insurance, and improper lighting. He was processed and bonded.

January 15, at approximately 9 p.m., Natalie Walker, 40, of Monee, was cited for a suspended registration and no insurance. She was processed and bonded.
