Monee Police Blotter: April 11 – 28
On April 11, at approximately 4:25 p.m., officers responded to a theft complaint at Thorntons and met with a University Park woman who explained to officers she had lost her credit card and soon discovered it had been used on three separate occasions at Thorntons to purchase gas. Investigation took over and determined the card had been used by the same subject for three different gas purchases on April 9. After reviewing video and interviewing store personnel, the vehicles involved were identified, and the owner was located in Monee. On April 22, Ebenezer Codjoe, 40, of Monee, was arrested and charged with two counts of theft and unlawful possession of a lost or stolen credit card. He was processed and released pending a court appearance.
On April 23, at approximately 4 a.m., a Monee-Manhattan Road traffic stop for speeding led to an arrest for driving while revoked. Michael Thomas, 39, of Chicago, was processed and released.
On April 25, at approximately 4:15 p.m., officers responded to the 25600 block of Jonquil for a subject who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers secured the area and assisted the victim, a 21-year-old Crete man. Officers initially were told the victim had been shot by an unknown assailant as he walked to his car. Officers talked to everyone in the neighborhood and were unable to substantiate the victims’ story. Investigators continued to follow up with friends of the victim and spoke with the victim a second time. The victim soon became very uncooperative and would not speak with officers. Initial forensic evaluation indicated the shooting did not occur on the street and no suspects were ever in the area. Investigations is following up.
On April 27, at approximately 5:15 p.m., a traffic stop on Monee-Manhattan Road resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old Chicago woman for driving while revoked and no insurance. Donisha Siller was processed and released.
On April 28, at approximately 3:55 a.m., officers took a theft complaint from Thorntons employees after a male subject tried to buy three bottles of alcohol. The clerk told the subject he could not buy alcohol before 10 a.m. The subject felt the clerk could make an exception because it was his birthday. It was explained to him it was not possible. The subject then transformed from subject into suspect as he exited the store with the alcohol. Video surveillance was pretty clear, and the suspect driving his car, registered in Chicago, will soon be talking to investigators.
