Frank L. Healy
Frank L. Healy, 81, of Peotone, sadly passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 29, 1941, he was the son of Walter and Nathalie Healy of Norris City.
Frank played football and ran track for the Norris City Cardinals, where he proudly lettered in both all four years. His first car was a black 1955 Ford, with fender skirts that read “Frankie.” He met the love of his life, Marilyn, at a football game, and they began their married life of 61 years in California before moving back to Illinois. Frank was a faithful employee at the Ford Motor Company for 36 years. After retirement, he worked as a driver for Terry’s Ford in Peotone.
Frank enjoyed going to flea markets, and collecting and restoring antiques. He also loved driving and restoring old cars. One of his favorite restored cars was a 1956 police car, reminiscent from the Andy Griffith show. He was an avid reader, especially of Civil War history, along with studying his Bible. In his later years, he enjoyed participating in car shows, watching old Westerns, The Waltons, and listening to Country and Southern Gospel music.
Most importantly was the relationship he had with his Lord Jesus. Over the years, Frank mentored and led many to walk with the Lord. He and Marilyn are faithful members of The Peoples Church in Bourbonnais, where he enjoyed the monthly meetings of Man Church. He also looked forward to the men’s monthly breakfasts with Pastor Greg.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn Healy; daughters, Robyn Larson and Lisa (Scott) Grunwald; grandchildren, Cody Larson, Isaac Larson, Olivia Larson, Justin (Abigail) Grunwald, Brittany (Justin) Zickus, Emma Grunwald, and Ava Grunwald; and great-grandchildren, Zayne Grunwald, Ryker Grunwald, Lenyx Grunwald, Huxley Grunwald, Chase Zickus, and Wes Zickus. Frank also is survived by his brother, Robert “Gene” (Norma) Healy; sister, Sue (Bob) Stokes; sister-in-law, Donna (Jimmy) James; brother-in-law, Marty (Lisa) McGee; and many loving nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill Farmer.
Visitation and funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 6, at The Peoples Church, 6644 N 1000 W Road in Bourbonnais, with visitation at 10 a.m., followed by the service beginning at noon. A private burial will take place at Peotone Cemetery. Memorials in his name may be directed to Samaritan’s Purse or The Peoples Church of Bourbonnais. Share a memory at www.feddehelfrichcrossfh.com.
