Thursday, February 8

Preschool Pals, from 1 – 2 p.m., ages four/five: During this independent storytime experience, children enjoy spending time with other preschoolers, while listening to stories, learning songs and finger plays, and playing games. Register.

Anime Club, from 3 – 4:30 p.m., grades sixth/12th: Join us for a screening of “Toradora!” Snacks and bottled water will be provided. Drop in.

STEAM Tweens – Math Art Masters, from 6 – 7 p.m., grades third/fifth: Did you know that art and math go hand in hand, plus you can’t have art without the lines and shapes that make it up? Frank Lloyd Wright used geometric shapes to decorate his buildings’ windows. Explore how to create with shapes and lines, taking a lesson from some masters. Register.

Trivia Night at Evil Horse, from 7 – 9 p.m., adults: This month’s theme is food. Compete on your own or bring a group of friends. Prizes will be awarded. Seating is first come, first served. Evil Horse Brewing Company is at 1338 Main Street, Crete. Drop in.

Friday, February 9

Retro Movie Fridays, from 2:30 – 4:45 p.m., all ages: Showing “The Bourne Identity” (rated PG-13). Drop in.

Saturday, February 10

Coding with Dash, from 10 – 11 a.m., grades third/fifth: Each session focuses on a specific challenge to help students get an introduction to using block-based programming and code, with a focus on robotics. Register.

Take Me Back to Kindergarten, from 2 – 3 p.m., ages 13 to 18: Wasn’t kindergarten so much easier than high school? Re-live the simpler days with fun activities experienced in kindergarten. Play with Play-Doh, fingerpaint, and join in on a storytime. We’ll even have a parachute! Register.

Monday, February 12

Mommy and Me Yoga, from 10 – 10:20 a.m., ages 0 – 23 months: During this storytime, use yoga-inspired stories to bond and stretch with your baby. No yoga experience is necessary. Bring a blanket for your baby each week, but yoga mats will be provided. Register.

’70s Sweethearts, with a Special Tribute to Olivia Newton-John, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., adults: Award-winning vocalist Maureen Christine and woodwind artist Michael Bazan will perform popular hits from 1970s’ sweethearts, including Karen Carpenter, Barbra Streisand, Toni Tennille, Helen Reddy, and Olivia Newton-John. This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency. Register.

CPLD Book Discussion Group, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., adults: Join us to discuss “The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry,” by Rachel Joyce. Copies of the book are available at the library. Drop in.

Tuesday, February 13

Toddler Tales, from 10 – 10:45 a.m., ages two/three and a caregiver: Share stories, rhymes, music, sensory bins, process art, and other activities you and your toddler can enjoy together. Register.

Comics and Cookies – “Narwhal: Unicorn of the Sea” for grades K/second, from 4:30 – 5:15 p.m. Discuss the book by Ben Clanton and make your own sea creature sidekicks! Register.

Wednesday, February 14

Science Stories, from 5:30 – 6:10 p.m., for families with children ages three and up: Join us as we celebrate Black History Month by learning about some amazing Black scientists! We will read about Dr. Mae Jemison and make our own rocket straw launchers! Drop in.

Thursday, February 15

STEAM Play – National Public Science Day, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., families: February 17 is National Public Science Day, when scientists want to share important discoveries with everyone! Join us for a day filled with a variety of STEAM-related experiments to choose from and spend a day learning and engaging in science! Drop in.
