Rebel Ice Cream Coming to Peotone
Rebel Ice Cream Company took to social March 10th to announce their coming to Peotone.
By Andrea Arens
A Friday night Facebook post shared some sad and yet exciting news.
The Icebox Creamery in Peotone that opened in height of the pandemic and was once State Rep. Jackie Haas’ business of the month, announced it sold to Rebel Ice Cream Company of Kankakee.
Icebox, which was owned and operated by the Kulacz family of Peotone, opened with the mission of bringing families together. They happily did so for about three years, closing for the winter. Their reasoning for selling was simple: To get back to taking care of their own family. Kulacz also owns Kulacz Heating and Air here in Peotone, as well.
Rebel’s owner Terrance Hopper said he’s thrilled to bring Rebel to Peotone. “Serendipitous opportunity showed itself. We researched the community and was impressed with Peotone’s huge hometown pride and support for local business. In addition, we are excited about the incoming city investments in the downtown. We honestly are just truly excited to bring our super cool and fun ice cream experience to Peotone.”
Rebel took over Icebox’s Facebook on Saturday and added that they “look forward to being a fun and experiential community hub.”
Rebel Ice Cream offers ice cream from different Midwest vendors, along with unique treats and ice cream experiences. They’re slated for an April 15 opening.
