NWSA World Series Coming to Chicago Southland
It
The Lincolnway Special Recreation Association (LWSRA), visionaries in creating and implementing adaptive programming for people with disabilities, has been selected to host the 2022 Wheelchair Softball World Series at Ozinga Field in Crestwood August 4-6. All genders will be represented in this adult division event.
“LWSRA is, once again, humbled by the opportunity to host such an important event, and we’re excited to welcome the greatest players in the world and the NWSA to the Chicago Southland,” said Keith Wallace, LWSRA Executive Director and Manager of the 2022 USA Wheelchair Softball team that will compete in the World Championships in Osaka, Japan, in November.
Founded in 1976, LWSRA provides adaptive and special recreation services for individuals with disabilities through a cooperative agreement with Frankfort, Frankfort Square, Mokena, New Lenox, and the Peotone park districts in the Chicago Southland region.
The NWSA plays on a smooth surface by standard 16-inch slow pitch softball rules and has served as the governing body in the United States and around the world for more than 40 years.
“We’re continually impressed with how frequent the LWSRA is selected to host adaptive sports championships,” said Chicago Southland Convention and Visitors Bureau CEO/President Jim Garrett. “Keith and his staff are exceptional hosts, and we’re thankful we can contribute to their success, while continuing to promote the Chicago Southland,” he added.
A limited number of sponsorship opportunities are available at https://wsws2022.ticketspice.com/2022-wheelchair-world-series-sponsorships. There’s also a need for volunteers; please visit www.LWSrA.org/volunteers for more information. Fans are welcome to attend free-of-charge.
