New ‘Ready Will County’ App Launched

The Will County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) launched a new-and-improved version of the “Ready Will County” smartphone application. The app is an innovative tool to help residents receive timely alerts and be able to effectively plan ahead for a wide range of scenarios.

“Will County EMA serves as a key source of information to plan ahead for emergency situations and emergency alerts,” said County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant. “Ready Will County is a modern tool for residents to connect with important preparedness resources.”

Substantial improvements were made to the app to improve navigation and provide new informational content. The app also allows residents to register their loved ones to help first responders identify those in need of assistance in the event of a disaster.

“We want to make it as easy as possible for residents to find the information they need in emergency situations,” said Will County EMA Director Allison Anderson. “We have so many new ways to stay connected as a society than we did 20-to-30 years ago. It was important for our department to create easy channels of communication to alert, inform, and prepare the public.”

The new app provides a variety of resources to residents, including emergency alerts, emergency plan preparation tools, preparedness information, warming and cooling center locations, a tool for reporting damage to Will County EMA, and volunteer opportunities.

The Ready Will County app works with both Apple and Android devices and is available for free download through the Apple iTunes and Google Play stores.
