Marjorie Kerber Celebrating 100 Years!
Beecher resident Marjorie (Krause) Kerber will celebrate a milestone on Tuesday, April 5. It’s her 100th birthday!!
Marjorie was born on April 5, 1922, in Chicago. After graduating from Hirsch High School, she worked for Illinois Bell.
During WWII, she was employed by the War Department at the University of Chicago, as a secretary, ordering materials for scientists working on the Manhattan Project that produced the atomic bomb. Marjorie just may be the last living person who was involved in that historical project.
In 1943, she married Harold a USMC Captain and B25 pilot. Four children followed – Charles, Richard, Elizabeth, and Barbara, along with four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
While raising her family, she was a long-time secretary in School Districts 151 and 150 in South Holland, retiring in 1987 to enjoy life with family and the many activities in which they are involved.
Congratulations, Marjorie!! Hope it’s a fabulous day and wishing you many more!!!!
