Lady Bobcats Have TREMENDOUS Week, Record 5 Shutouts!
On Tuesday, March 28, the Beecher Girls Varsity Softball Team beat Ottawa in an away non-conference shut-out, 4-0. Winning freshman pitcher Ava Lorenzatti had 18 strike outs in her debut on the mound and allowed only 1 hit.
The next day, Wednesday, March 29, in a home conference doubleheader against Illinois Lutheran, the Lady Bobcats added two more shutouts to their early season record, beating the Chargers, 11-0 and 13-0.
In the first game, Lorenzatti brought home her second win in as many days, allowing no runs, no hits, 1 walk, and 11 strikeouts in the 11-0 victory.
In the second game, Taylor Norkus registered her first win on the mound with a 13-0 victory over the Chargers. In the win, Beecher scored 13 runs, on 5 hits, and committed no errors. The Chargers had 3 hits, with no runs, plus 4 errors.
Then on Thursday, March 30, the Lady Cats traveled to St. Anne for another conference doubleheader, taking both games with two more shutouts, 18-0 and 15-0.
Abby Papas was credited with the 18-0 win and allowed only 1 hit, with no walks, and no runs in the outing. Beecher took advantage of St. Anne by scoring 18 runs on 10 hits, along with 11 walks. In the contest, St. Anne committed 3 errors.
In her third time on the mound for the week, Lorenzatti pitched 4 perfect innings in the 15-0 victory. Beecher scored 15 runs on 12 hits, along with no errors. For St. Anne, the stat boxes were filled with zeros, except for their 5 errors.
Beecher currently is 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the RVC.
