April’s ‘Buzz’ nature show touts benefits of nature outings: Tune in to April’s episode of ‘The Buzz,’ the Forest Preserve’s monthly nature show, to learn about the benefits of being outside and all the Forest Preserve programs that will take you there. The show debuts at 8:30 p.m., April 26, on Facebook and YouTube.

Enthusiastic, Encouraging, Efficient, Kim Shehorn Named Volunteer of the Year: Kim Shehorn, of Frankfort, was named the 2022 Volunteer of the Year during the Forest Preserve’s annual volunteer banquet on April 12. The banquet celebrated 39 years of the district’s formal volunteer program.

From ‘Cultural Relic to Recreational resource,’ I&M Canal Anniversary Marks 175 Years: The Forest Preserve District is celebrating the 175th anniversary of the I&M Canal, which runs through or adjacent to several preserves and provides a path for cultural preservation and recreational opportunities.

Sign-up for Volunteer Morning Program: Now that spring has sprung, it’s a good time to get involved in the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s volunteer program. The schedule of volunteer morning programs through June has been released and registration is open.
