Preschool Pals, from 1 – 2 p.m., ages four/five: During this independent storytime experience, children enjoy spending time with other preschoolers, while listening to stories, learning songs and fingerplays, and playing games. Register.

Manga Club for Teens, from 3 – 4 p.m., grades sixth/12th: Join us to talk about “One-Punch Man: Vol. 1,” by ONE, or bring your own manga to discuss. Register.

Film Club, from 5:30 – 8 p.m., adults: Enjoy watching “Borgman” on the library’s big screen, with refreshments and a short discussion following the movie. Drop in.

STEAM Tots – Rocket Science, from 6 – 7 p.m., ages three/five: It’s not hard, it’s only rocket science! Join us as we learn about our solar system and some of the basic science that helps put astronauts in space, with fun interactive activities! Register.

Friday, April 26

Retro Movie Fridays, from 2:30 – 4:45 p.m., all ages: Showing “The Iron Giant” (rated PG-13). Drop in.

Saturday, April 27

Coding with Dash, from 10 – 11 a.m., grades third/fifth: Each session will focus on a specific challenge to help students get an introduction to using block-based programming and code, with a focus on robotics. Register.

Monday, April 29

Book Appétit – Cookbook Book Club, from 6 – 7:30 p.m., ages 11 – adult: Join us and enjoy a potluck array of food from “Bottom of the Pot: Persian Recipes and Stories,” by Naz Deravian. Each member picks a recipe and brings a dish to share with other members. Copies of the cookbook will be available in advance at the library. Register.

LEGO WeDo Robotics – Space Exploration, from 6 – 7 p.m., grades first/fifth: We will design, build, and test a rover that can achieve one of the following missions when sent to planet Mars: Move in and out of a crater, collect a rock sample, or drill a hole in the ground. Register.

Wednesday, May 1

SNAP Help, from 1 – 4 p.m., adults: A SNAP Outreach Coordinator for the Northern Illinois Food Bank will assist people with filling out applications for the Illinois Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as Food Stamps or Link Card. Drop in.

Silent Book Club, from 6 – 7:30 p.m., adults: Join us to read together in quiet camaraderie with the book of your choice. A short discussion follows an hour of reading. Drop in.

Let’s LEGO – Treehouses, from 6 – 7 p.m., grades K/fifth: Each month there is a new LEGO building challenge to complete and put on display in the library. This month the group will build treehouses. Drop in.

Thursday, May 2

Knot Just for Knitters, from 1 – 2 p.m., ages 11–adult: Join us to socialize while working on knitting, crocheting, or any other type of needlework project. Drop in.

Friday, May 3

Retro Movie Fridays, from 2:30 – 4:45 p.m., all ages. Showing “The Goonies” (rated PG). Drop in.

Saturday, May 4

Heideman Pavilion and Community Opening Grand Opening Event Schedule:

  • Muffins with a Mystery Reader, from 10:30–11:15 a.m., families. Register.
  • Crafts for All Ages and Tours of the Community Garden, from 11 a.m.–1 p.m., all ages. Drop in.
  • Remarks and Pavilion Opening, with Live Music by Giggity 2.0, from 1–3 p.m., all ages. Drop in.
