Changes to MHS Administration
By Madeleine Willis
Manteno High School has filled three new administrative roles at the high school. As of July 1, the administrative staff began their new roles and include the new staff members and their roles:
- Doug Wenzel, principal
- Ed Hotwagner, associate principal
- Justin Emerson, athletic director
“They are not new faces to our school community, but they are new faces in terms of new positions,” Supt. Lisa Harrod said.
Prior to these administrative changes, Doug Wenzel was serving as the associate principal. Supt. Harrod said Wenzel was a natural fit for the job.
“We are very excited,” Harrod noted. “He has done a phenomenal job in his roles through the years.”
For the past year, Hotwagner was serving as the athletic director. That role now belongs to Emerson, who prior to the promotion taught various social studies courses at the high school.
Emerson also has been the head soccer coach at the high school for many years. Replacing him will be Oscar Farfan, who also coaches soccer at the middle school.
Harrod spoke about the new administrative team: “They have a wealth of knowledge about the district, and they always are making decisions based on what is best for students first, which is always the goal of our administrative team.”
Harrod said the team already has strong relationships with staff, students, and the school community.
“We’ve got amazing people in place who are always going to help move the district forward,” she concluded.
