Brown Sentenced to 13 Years in Residential Break-Ins

Unsuspecting victims secretly videotaped.

Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow announced Zacharie Brown, 29, of Bolingbrook, was sentenced recently by Judge Amy Bertani-Tomczak to 13 years in prison for breaking into multiple residences at different times and engaging in conduct including residential burglary, attempt sexual abuse, and unauthorized videotaping of unsuspecting victims, including minors, as they slept. Brown pled guilty in multiple cases based on conduct occurring in 2021.

During the course of several months, Brown, on numerous separate occasions, entered occupied residences through unlocked doors and windows and proceeded to videotape the victims who lived in the residences as they slept. None of the victims had given Brown permission to enter their residences. In some instances, the clothing of the victim or bedding was removed to expose the victim’s body for the purposes of recording. Police apprehended Brown after one of the victims chased Brown out of his residence and proceeded to chase him in his vehicle. The victim provided a description of Brown’s vehicle and its partial plate number to police. Police located Brown with the use of a tracker obtained for the vehicle.

“This sick individual videotaped people sleeping in their own homes,” Glasgow said. “Brown violated their privacy and took away their sense of security and safety. At least the victims will sleep a bit more soundly knowing Brown is locked away and won’t be able to sneak into their homes from behind prison bars.”

Brown pled guilty to the following: 22CF270 – Criminal Trespass to Residence, Class 4 Felony; 22CF348 – Residential Burglary, Class 1 Felony, and Unauthorized Video Recording, Class 4 Felony; 22CF347 – Residential Burglary, Class 1 Felony, and Attempt Criminal Sex Abuse, Class A Misdemeanor; 22CF344 – Residential Burglary, Class 1 Felony; and 22CF346 – Residential Burglary, Class 1 Felony.

The sentences in the cases will be served concurrently. Brown will receive 433 days credit.
