Golf

Peotone: On Monday, October 2, Peotone High School golfers Joe Hasse and Jake Eaheart competed in the 2A Golf Sectional at Wedgewood Golf Course in Joliet. Both players were unable to advance to the state finals, as the cut line was 76, and both players shot an 87.

Volleyball

ILHS: On Friday, September 29, Illinois Lutheran High School hosted TriPoint in their last conference match of the season. ILHS came out on top with a 25-12; 25-18 win. Kailey Van Es finished with 3 aces, 5 assists, 2 kills, and 3 digs. Anna Oestmann had 2 aces, 5 kills, and 10 digs, while Mia Jacobucci also had 2 aces and added 8 digs.

On Monday, October 2, the Chargers hosted Heritage Christian and dropped a close first set 25-27, then struggled in the second set and ended with a 15-25 loss. Marisol Tafolla had 3 aces, 1 kill, and 7 digs. Mia Jacobucci ended with 12 digs, Anna Oestmann had 1 ace, 3 kills, and 4 digs, Emma Nagle recorded 1 ace, 4 assists, 1 kill, and 4 digs, while Bianca Hurst had 6 digs.

Then on Thursday, October 5, ILHS hosted Momence in a non-conference match. It was Pink Night for Illinois Lutheran, and the gym was packed with fans decked out in pink. In the first set, the Chargers used the energy of the crowd to come back from a 15-19 deficit to go ahead 20-19. The game was close from that point, with several ties and lead changes. Momence was able to finish the first set with a 28-26 win. The Chargers were behind 1-6 early in the second set but came back to take a lead at 13-12 and finished with a 25-18 win. Down 14-19 in the third set, Mia Jacobucci served 6 straight points to take a 20-19 lead. The Chargers were able to hang on and take a 25-22 third set and match win. Marisol Tafolla had 2 aces, 2 assists, 2 kills, and 10 digs. Mia Jacobucci recorded 2 aces and 13 digs, Kailey Van Es had 9 assists, 4 kills, and 8 digs, while Azaylia Sanchez had 5 kills and 12 digs.

The Chargers are 8-16 overall and 5-4 in the RVC.

Peotone: On Monday, October 2, the Peotone Blue Devils traveled to Beecher in non-conference volleyball competition and lost 9-25, 22-25. Ella Stupegia had 6 points and 2 aces, Mia Connolley – 5 kills, and Allie Werner – 6 assists and 1 block.

The next day, Tuesday, October 3, the Blue Devils welcomed conference foe Lisle, on the home court, but lost in two, 22-25, 19-25. Allie Werner recorded 10 assists and 2 kills, Mia Connolley  – 11 kills, and Ella Stupegia – 5 digs and 2 aces.

On Thursday, October 5, the Blue Devils traveled to Streator and recorded a conference win,  20-25, 25-23, 26-24. For Peotone, Allie Werner  recorded 20 assists and 6 digs, Ella Stupegia – 3 assists, 5 points, and 16 digs, Mia Connolley – 8 kills and 5 points, Ashley Veltman – 7 kills, 1 ace, and 1 block, Alyssa Lattz – 4 kills, Alexa Matichak – 5 kills and 1 block, and Olivia Moe  – 9 digs.

Manteno: The Panthers lost in three sets in their volleyball match against Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School on Monday, October 2, in a non-conference battle in Bradley, 15-35, 31-29, 10-25.

Tuesday, October 3, the Panthers lost to Reed-Custer in three in home conference competition, 22-25, 25-11, 21-25.

Finishing the week’s play on Thursday, October 5, the Panthers faced conference foe Lisle at home and recorded a match victory after losing the first set, 23-25, which was followed by 25-15, 25-5 wins. The Panthers are 8-13 overall and 4-7 in ICE.
