The Sauk Trail Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is sponsoring its annual Wreaths Across America sale this month.

Volunteers will place them on gravesites of American military veterans buried in St. Paul Cemetery in Monee during a ceremony on December 16. The program this year is themed Serve and Succeed.

WAA began nationwide more than 30 years ago, and the DAR began to sponsor its leg of the program in Monee in 2021. Each year since then, more than 100 wreaths have been purchased and placed on graves at St. Paul’s Cemetery. They also are placed at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery and at Crete Cemetery.
The natural pine wreaths are $17 each and can be ordered online, according to Christi Holston, president of the Monee Historical Society.
To order or to make a donation, visit www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/IL0205P.
“When ordering, be sure to reference the code of ILSPCM, which stands for Illinois St. Paul’s Cemetery Monee,” Holston noted. “And the order needs to be received by November 28.
“All of us involved with the WAA program at St. Paul’s are honored to be able to show our respects to those who have served their country,” she added. “It is our mission to never forget the names and stories of these local heroes”
The Wreaths Across America in Monee is sponsored by St. Paul’s Cemetery, the Sauk Trail Chapter of the DAR, and supported by the Monee Historical Society, Monee Legion Post #1200, and the Monee Women’s Auxiliary Post 1200.
