Register for Springfest 5K Run/1.5 Mile Walk

Area residents are invited to register for the Kankakee River Running Club’s Spring 5K Run/1.5 Mile Walk, on Saturday, April 13, beginning and ending at Manteno American Legion Post, 117. N. Walnut. Opening ceremonies are at 8:40 a.m. and include the playing of the “National Anthem” and Posting of Colors by Boy Scout Troop 382, followed by the run/walk at 9 a.m.

The course is flat, fast, and will be run on city streets, as well as a paved bike trail. All participants and volunteers will receive a bird house, while overall and age group winners also will be awarded a commemorative shadowbox.

In addition to the run/walk, Cat in the Top Hat Denny Case, the Kankakee Journal Readers’ Choice Award for best DJ at special events and best radio DJ, will spin tunes to motivate runners and walkers.

Participants who wish to receive a t-shirt, with the race logo and information imprinted on it, must be registered by noon on April 1, in addition to paying an extra $10 fee. Race day registration will be available.
