In a 15 minute meeting with very little discussion, the Manteno School Board unanimously approved the purchase of a wheelchair accessible activity bus, with a total lease and purchase option price of $75,463. The purchase is expected to be funded utilizing special education federal grant money.

The board also unanimously approved the renewal of the Comcast Business Service Order Agreement for internet service for the district office. The new contract price will be $299.85 per month for 12 months.

The technology committee discussed student-owned devices being used in the classroom in addition to or in lieu of district provided devices. The consensus was teachers are unable to monitor any device that isn’t district owned. The technology committee recommended revising the policy in each building handbook to say only district provided devices, except in the case of an IEP, can be used in the classroom.

The tech committee also discussed moving all district websites to a new web host, as there’s legislation in August requiring all district websites to be ADA compliant. This means any graphic or picture will have to have tags and all pdf files will have to be annotated.
