Lady Bobcats Take 5 Wins for the Week

On Monday, May 8, the Lady Bobcats traveled to Grant Park to face conference foe the Grant Park Dragons, bringing home double wins.

In the first game, the Bobcats trounced the Dragons, 15-0, in a five-inning contest. For Beecher, the team scored 15 runs, on 10 hits, with no errors. In the shutout, the Dragons were held to no runs on only 3 hits, along with 1 error. Abby Papas was the pitcher of record and currently is 3-0.

In the second contest of the day, Beecher again, with very hot bats, tallied a plethora of 16 runs, on 14 hits, with no errors. Grant Park was kept to only 1 hit in the shutout, but committed 6 errors.

Ava Lorenzatti, who currently is 13-3, was credited with the win.

Tuesday, May 9, the Bobcats faced conference rival Momence and gave their fans an exciting 15-0 shutout. Freshman pitcher Taylor Norkus took the win, after pitching a beautiful game that matched the weather. She allowed no one to reach base in 4 perfect innings. She now is 8-1 in the circle.

Beecher scored 10 runs in the first inning, 3 in the second, and 1 each in the third and fourth, along with 16 hits on the day. Unfortunately for Momence, the only stat they could muster for the day was 6 errors.

On Wednesday, May 10, the Bobcats traveled to Oak Forest to take a 7-1 non-conference victory for the day. The Bobcats scored 7 runs, on 12 hits, while Oak Forest tallied 1 run, on 5 hits. Ava Lorenzatti took the win, pitching 6.2 innings, allowing 1 run, on 3 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 9. Taylor Norkus, in relief, allowed 2 hits, along with 1 walk and 1 strikeout.

The Lady Bobcats faced Momence again on Thursday, May 11, in Momence and were victorious with an 11-0 shutout. Momence tallied no hits in the 5 inning contest, while committing 3 errors. Beecher scored 11 runs, on 14 hits, with no errors. In the shutout, Ava Lorenzatti, who currently is 15-3 in the circle, allowed no baserunners, while striking out 14.

The Bobcats finished their week on Saturday, May 13, and provided the home fans with an 8-3 victory over non-conference foe Morris. After a scoreless four innings of play for Beecher, the Bobcats came alive and tallied 4 runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings for the win. On the day, Beecher scored 8 runs, on 10 hits, with no errors, while Morris had 3 runs, on 9 hits, along with 2 errors.

Ava Lorenzatti, who is 16-3 in the circle, took the win in relief. Overall Beecher is 29-4 and 18-0 in the RVC.
