Kankakee Public Library, 201 E. Merchant Street in Kankakee, announced programs for the beginning of June.

Kankakee Valley Genealogical Society presents “How to Use FOLD3 for Genealogy Research:” The Kankakee Valley Genealogical Society will host Jenny Warner at its next meeting, June 3, at 10:30 a.m., at the library. Ms. Warner’s presentation will be “How to Use FOLD3 for Genealogy Research.” Fold3 is an online database, which provides access to millions of indexed and digitized U.S. military records. Do you have questions about how to use Fold3? Not sure Fold3 will help? This presentation goes over the basics of how to use Fold3, specifically for genealogists.

A brief business meeting will follow the free program, which is open to the public. No registration is required. Questions may be directed to the library by calling 815-939-4564.

Journaling in the Garden: Local writer Kathy Gates Washington will lead a journaling workshop in the outdoor garden space at the library. Journaling in the Garden is on Monday, June 5, from 6 to 7 p.m., and will include guidance on embellishment, as well as writing. Journaling has been shown to have a myriad of benefits for all people. Bring a friend and try it out.

Supplies will be provided. Registration is not required, but strongly encouraged. Register by calling the library at 815-939-4564.
