Kankakee County Board Chairman Granted A Raise

Spread the love

By Stephen Nelson
At the Kankakee County Board Meeting on Tuesday, May 14, members voted to approve a 3 percent per year increase for the next two years for the board chairman. That means the chairman’s annual salary will go from the current $60,000 to $61,800 this year and to $63,654 in 2025. Current board chairman Andy Wheeler will be stepping down from the job in December.
In other business, Kankakee County Board Chairman Andy Wheeler asked the board to agree to sponsor the returning Kankakee River Regatta for $25,000 per year for the next three years. He asked the board to commit that amount from the $4 million surplus the county has in the bank.
“I think we need to get behind this, because it’s a countywide event,” Wheeler said.  No vote on the matter took place.
