Preschool Pals, from 1 – 2 p.m., ages four/five: During this independent storytime experience, children enjoy spending time with other preschoolers, while listening to stories, learning songs and fingerplays, and playing games. Register.

Anime Club, from 3 – 4:30 p.m., grades sixth/12th: Join us for a screening of “Fairy Tail.” Snacks and bottled water will be provided. Register.

STEAM Tweens – Astronaut Activities, from 6 – 7 p.m., grades third/fifth: Do you have what it takes to be an astronaut? Come find out as we test our minds and bodies like an astronaut would. Register.

Trivia Night at Evil Horse, at 1338 Main Street, from 7 – 9 p.m.: “Anything Goes” is this month’s theme. Compete on your own or bring a group of friends. Prizes will be awarded. Seating is first come, first served. Drop in.

Retro Movie Fridays, from 2:30 – 4:45 p.m., all ages: Showing “Jumanji” (rated PG). Drop in.

Friends of the Library Book Sale, from noon – 4:30 p.m., all ages: Early access at 10 a.m. for active Friends of the Library members or anyone else for a $10 early entry fee. Books, DVDs, CDs, and puzzles will be for sale at bargain prices.

Mommy and Me Yoga Storytime, from 10 – 10:20 a.m., ages 0 – 23 months: During this storytime, use yoga-inspired stories to bond and stretch with your baby. No yoga experience is necessary, but bring a blanket for your baby each week. Yoga mats will be provided. Register.

Resumé and Cover Letter Workshop for High Schoolers (virtual), from 7 – 8 p.m., grades ninth/12th: Learn the do’s and don’ts of resumé and cover letter writing in this online workshop geared toward teens. Presented by representatives from Joliet Junior College. Registration is required to receive the meeting link.

Tuesday, April 16

Toddler Tales, from 10 – 10:45 a.m., ages two/three and a caregiver: Share stories, rhymes, music, sensory bins, process art, and other activities you and your toddler can enjoy together. Register.

Young Adult (for adults) Book Club, from 6 – 7 p.m.: Join us for a discussion of “Man Made Monsters,” by Andrea L. Rogers. Register.

Herbology 101 – Fun with Herbs, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., adults: Learn about herbs, including growing and caring for them, as well as how to use your herbal harvest. This class is designed for those who are curious about herbs but do not know where to start and those wanting to include herbs in their garden for the first time. Register.

Wednesday, April 17

Teen Video Game Tournament, from 2:45 – 4 p.m., ages 13 – 18: Join us for fun, yet competitive play! One game will be chosen for each tournament. Register.

Springtime in Italy, from 6:30 – 8 p.m., Zoom, adults: Prepare some recipe ideas that capture the essence of Italian spring cuisine. In this online class, presenter Kristyn Slick will guide you, starting from prepping the ingredients and cooking each step until the dishes are completed and plated. Register.

WHAT?I? That’s in Illinois! Our Illinois State Parks System, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., adults: Celeste Brown’s quest to visit each of the Illinois State Parks has opened her eyes to the diversity of our state. Join us to take a look at many of the 101 parks she already has seen, hear her recount adventures with both wildlife and GPS, and enjoy a showcase of our wonderful Illinois landscape. Register.

Grow a Cook’s Garden, from 10 – 11 a.m., adults: If you have a spot in your garden, balcony, or deck that receives more than six hours of direct sunlight, you can grow tomatoes, onions, peppers, squash, garlic, and leafy greens. Learn plant selection, soil preparation, potting methods, pest protection, extending crops into fall, and food preparation. Register.
