County Rejects Truck Terminal South of Frankfort

Spread the love

By Stephen Nelson
Responding to formal legal opposition in the form of a unanimously passed resolution by the Frankfort Village Board, the Will County Board at its February 16 meeting rejected a request by property owner Uriel Cantero to establish a truck terminal on LaGrange Road south of Frankfort near Laraway Road.  The board voted nearly unanimously to reject a request for a special use permit and a zoning change from agricultural to industrial use.
In other action, by just over the bare minimum to pass (13 votes affirmative with 22 in attendance), the board passed a resolution to allow the Will County Executive to negotiate a professional services contract to develop a countywide electric vehicle readiness plan. The objective is to establish a network of charging stations for cars that are expected to rapidly increase their share of the market in the near future. Also passed were resolutions to change the name of Renwick Road to Old Renwick Road and designate a Historic Landmark nomination for the Henry Furst House.
During discussion, it was noted Will County’s Sunny Hill Nursing Home was rated by Newsweek magazine as the 14th best out of 150 such facilities it reviewed nationwide.
