Graduations

More than 1,700 graduates received degrees from Iowa State University last fall. Ceremonies were held December 15-16 at Hilton Coliseum. Congratulations to the following local graduates: Manhattan – Matthew Zarnowski, Bachelor of Science, Construction Engineering; and New Lenox – Tyler Smith, Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering.

Gea Alberico, of Manhattan, was among the nearly 1,700 students conferred with degrees last month at the University of Iowa. Alberico, a student in the College of Engineering and whose program of study was Mechanical Engineering, was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.

Lakeview College of Nursing (LCN) recognized students who recently received academic degrees and graduated from the program. Noredia Asia, of Monee, is a 2019 graduate of Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights. She is the daughter of Ricky and Josephine Agheyisi of Monee. Camryn Studer, of Peotone, also received a degree and is a 2017 graduate of Peotone High School and a 2021 graduate of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. She is the daughter of Ray (Karly) Studer of Lowell, Indiana, and Victoria Studer of Kankakee. She is married to Griffin Sass of Aurora.

More than 1,100 students received their degrees from Northern Illinois University in December. Included among the graduates were the following local students:

From Beecher – Nicholas Markanich, Bachelor of Arts, Sociology; and Anthony Markanich Jr., Bachelor of Arts, Sociology

From Crete – Delvon Alexander, Bachelor of Science, Mathematics – Applied Mathematics, plus Bachelor of Science, Physics – Professional Physics; and Edith Mendoza, Bachelor of Arts, Sociology

From Manhattan – Michael Devisme, Bachelor of Science, Engineering Technology – Electrical Engineering Technology; and Ashley Korpitz, Bachelor of Arts, Psychology

From New Lenox – Melissa Callaghan, Master of Science in Education, Instructional Technology; Amanda De Vito, Master of Public Health, Public Health – Health Services Management; Adam Gasbarro, Master of Science in Education, School Business Management; Alexandra Gula, Master of Arts in Teaching, Elementary Education; Jacob Medendorp, Bachelor of Science, Hospitality and Tourism Management; George Nordstrom, Bachelor of Science, Sport Management; Anna Sheehey, Bachelor of Arts, Psychology; and Tessa Wheeler, Master of Science in Education, School Counseling.

Dean’s/President’s Lists

Loras College, in Iowa, announced the names of students who achieved Dean’s List status for the fall semester, including Nora Gaffney from New Lenox and Drake Sorensen from Peotone.

Georgia Southern University recently recognized students on the fall Dean’s List. Jillian Gray, of New Lenox, has been named to the list for excellence in academics.

The following students were named to the fall semester’s Dean’s List at Grove City College in Pennsylvania: Calvin Boss, a Data Science major, has been named to the Dean’s List with Distinction and is a 2022 Homeschool graduate. Hailey Boss, a Nursing major at the college, has been named to the Dean’s List with High Distinction. She is a 2023 Homeschool graduate. Both students are the children of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Boss, from New Lenox.

The following students made the Dean’s List at Monmouth College for the fall semester: Madelyn Boley of Beecher, Emily Phillip of Monee, and Christopher Zavala of New Lenox.

Lincoln University of Missouri is pleased to announce the fall Dean’s List honorees, which include the following students: Kaden Monday of Manhattan and Cameron Johnson of Steger.

The following students have been named to the Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana, Dean’s List for the fall semester: Molly Brown and Paige Parker, from Crete; Nina Zulanas – Manhattan; and Anna Englert, Kelsey McGivern, Madison O’Brien, and Ava Schuldt – New Lenox.
