Miles Hagen, from New Lenox, conducted and presented undergraduate research at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater during the past academic year. Hagen, who is studying biology, presented “Characterization and Analysis of the pdk-1 gene in Brugia malayi using Caenorhabditis elegans as a model system,” while mentored and supervised by Kirsten Crossgrove. He participated in the following programs – Spring Undergraduate Research Day and Fall Undergraduate Research Grant. Hagen won the Biology Endowment award for this project.

Paige Prochaska, of New Lenox, recently enrolled in the University of Kentucky College of Arts and Sciences in Lexington, for the fall.

Dean’s/President’s Lists

More than 10,500 University of Maryland Global Campus students were named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester, including: William Johnson and Jerome Rowley of Crete, and Justin Brown of New Lenox.

Montclair State University, in New Jersey, recently announced students named to the spring Dean’s List. Congratulations to Sydney McGann, of New Lenox.

Graduations

New Lenox resident Kelsey Kroning was among 583 graduates who received degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln during a commencement ceremony August 12, at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Kroning earned a Master of Science from the Office of Graduate Studies.
