The Village of Bradley is taking the first step toward building what it hopes will be a major tourist draw. At the Monday, March 13, village board meeting, a resolution was passed that creates an agreement with Sports Facilities Development, LLC, to provide consulting services to Bradley for construction of an outdoor diamond facility.
Sports Facilities Development partner Tom Arnold said the 10-12 ball diamond facility will create an economic impact for Bradley of an estimated $33 million. Eventually, Bradley plans to build an entertainment complex around the diamonds that could host concerts and other events, such as a farmer’s market.
In other business, the Bradley Police Department welcomed a new officer with the swearing in of Nathan Hess. Police Chief Don Barber said he is a native of Kankakee County and originally from Momence. He has three years law enforcement experience with the Peotone Police Department.
Also at the March 13 Bradley Village Board meeting, trustees voted to allow the fire department to purchase a new engine at a cost of $585,000 dollars.
