Bobcats Rout Donovan, 95-40

Beecher Coach Tyler Shireman just loves to play on the Bobcats’ home court, before their very supportive fans. On December 2, amped-up Beecher junior Adyn McGinley certainly gave those supportive fans an exceptional game and something to cheer about.

McGinley, a 6’ outstanding point guard, registered 27 points, had 4 steals, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists, to help Beecher rout Donovan, 95-40, in a River Valley Conference opener before a full house gathering in Beecher.

Last season, in RVC play, the Bobcats tied for first place and the title. Beecher, who is currently 4-1, 1-0, was ready and excited to battle the Wildcats.

“Our guys were very excited to get back in front on our home court,” said Shireman. “We were very happy with the turnout, also. Adyn is our leader in every facet of the game and makes everyone around him better.”

McGinley enjoys playing on the Beecher home floor and noted, “This was our first home game of the year – it’s really special to play at home. My teammates gave me great passes, which helped me score some baskets. We all trust each other.”

In the dawning moments of the first quarter, McGinley started out strong, making two straight buckets for a 4-0 lead. Rio Llamas’ (4 points, 4 rebounds) basket made it 6-0. Then, another McGinley bucket pushed the margin to 8-0. Moments later, junior Zachary Johnson made three straight baskets for a 14-0 lead.

“Zachary found an extra gear,” said Shireman. “We are a different team when he plays hard.”

“Our team did great,” added Johnson. “Adyn can drive to the basket and shoot the ball, too. We should do very well in conference play.”

“Zachary got us going,” stated McGinley. “I’m glad to have him as a teammate.”

Still in the first stanza and only moments later, Johnson made a basket and a trey for a commanding 21-6 advantage. Another Johnson bucket made it 23-7. Right before the close of the first stanza, Jack Hayhurst’s trey pushed the Bobcats margin to 28-16.

Going into the locker room, Beecher had raced to a 51-19 half time lead. By the close of the third quarter, the Bobcats had a commanding 78-29 advantage.

On the night, Adyn McGinley had 27 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals. Zachary Johnson added 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists, Orlin Nesbitt finished with 12 points, while Jake Graniczny added 8 points and 5 rebounds.

The Bobcats will play host to RVC rival Grant Park on December 9, at 7 p.m.
