Valentines Day

A Valentine Love Story

Spread the love

With Valentine’s Day upon us, it seems appropriate to spotlight a love story that began “brewing back” in 2016 when Amy Kamp was working for a marketing company in Schererville, Indiana. One day in the office, she spotted a familiar face – Steve Kamp, an older brother of a high school friend and also Brewmaster at Evil Horse Brewing.

After chatting with him for a bit, she thought he might enjoy going to a hop farm in her small town, so she invited him out. Fast forward a couple weeks later, Steve invited Amy to the Great Taste of the Midwest. The duo had the best time, talking and laughing constantly. Amy woke up thinking to herself, “Girlfriend, you are going to marry him.”

After a wonderful courtship, they married at his farm in Beecher. Amy’s dad, who just happened to be Steve’s favorite Bible Study teacher from his youth, married them. They celebrated with more than 250 people at Evil Horse Farm, complete with a huge tap box filled with home brewed beers made by Steve’s friends, a pig roast prepared by the ex-NFL football player husband of Amy’s boss, a goat on the dance floor, their chocolate lab greeting every guest, and a fabulous cake baked by Amy’s daughter. It was a true family affair!

To celebrate, the couple hopped on a plane to spend their honeymoon at the Great American Beer Fest in Denver. Amy now works at Evil Horse alongside her husband as VP of Marketing.

“As everyone in the craft brewing business knows, the industry has its ups and downs – and requires a lot of hard work,” shared Amy. “We have been blessed to work side-by-side for the past six years through it all and, in a true full circle moment, have even had the opportunity to bring our beer to the Great Taste of the Midwest!”
