Special Needs Basketball Clinic Hosted by Providence Catholic

Providence Catholic Girls’ Basketball is proud to host a Super Celtics Special Needs Co-ed Camp on January 5 and 6. The camp will run in two sessions for both boys and girls. Ages five to 10 may register for the camp session from 10-11 a.m., and ages 11-15 may register for camp running from 11 a.m.-noon.
Each camper will be paired with a two-on-one group or with a one-on-one high school player as their buddy for the duration of camp. As a supervisor of the camp, Jenna Maziur was a special education teacher for seven years, along with having a son who has nonverbal Autism.
Parents are encouraged to stay for camp. Drills and games will be modified to best fit the needs of the campers. If you wish, send additional information about your camper to Jenna Maziur or Eileen Copenhaver. Camp is $25 (due on the first day of camp) and includes a t-shirt.
“It’s important for athletes to provide opportunities for others to share in the love of a sport they are so passionate about,” said Providence Catholic’s Head Girls’ Basketball Coach Eileen Copenhaver. “That includes anyone who would like to participate in basketball. We are so excited for this opportunity. As the saying goes, ‘When everyone is included, everyone wins.’ We look forward to a day full of fun and learning.”
“We are excited about this opportunity to welcome area grade school students, with special needs, to have some fun, while learning a little basketball,” said Coach Jenna Maziur. “This is really something our team wanted to put together, and we are excited to host it for the first time.”
For questions, contact Coach Maziur at [email protected], or Coach Copenhaver at [email protected].
