Visit Kankakee County, who locals know as the Kankakee County Convention and Visitors Bureau (KCCVB), has been busy keeping up with all things new and ever changing in Kankakee County, and Wednesday, April 12, was the official release of their most recent marketing publication, the holy grail of tourism tips for Kankakee County: The Visitors Guide.

The Visitors Guide is an opportunity to provide information to visitors interested in the area’s unique attractions and activities. Last published in 2022, the guide has a brand-new look and captures the vision of Executive Director Nicole Gavin and Marketing Coordinator Meegan Massey.

It is designed to immerse the reader in a Kankakee County adventure as they flip through the pages, inviting them to experience something new, enjoy a weekend stay, or schedule a repeat visit. There are a plethora of experiences!

You’ll find this vision is present throughout the guide. Highlighting four key destination categories – explore, taste, shop, and stay – residents will find the guide to be good reading material, even as locals. The guide takes you on a journey from Outdoor Adventures to Arts and History, with a pit stops at Local Eats and Sips and More. The guide provides the visitor with essential information to make the most of their time in Kankakee County.

But wait, there’s more! The shopping experience is broken into Cool Stuff, Antiques, and Crafts, giving every shopper the opportunity to find their perfect pick-me-up. There are even stories of how to have an exciting adventure on the river and the original story of Locavore Farm and its signature dining event.

But what do visitors do while they’re in Kankakee County? Well, there’s plenty! Kids and Family offers the chance to dream big, with a complete list of the great places to spend a day or two without breaking the bank. Festivals and Events highlights the major events in the area and offers something to do for every generation. Information on Barn Quilts, the Historic Church Tour, Farms and Markets, accommodations, and more can be found throughout.

Readers are invited to stop in for a guide, or go to visitkankakeecounty.com and request one.
