Schuffert to Play for UIS
Heidi Schuffert will continue her soccer career at University of Illinois Springfield.
The University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) women’s soccer team and head coach Erin Egolf announced the signing of nine players, including Heidi Schuffert, from Beecher.
Schuffert is a 5’3” Defender, who played at Marian Catholic, Chicago International Soccer Club, and Northwest Lions United Soccer Club.
She competed in soccer with Marian Catholic High School and earned second place in Illinois High School Association (IHSA) 1A state tournament during freshman year, claimed IHSA 2A regional title as a sophomore.
She is the daughter of Daniel and Michele Schuffert and plans to major in Exercise Science with a pre-Physical Therapy track.
Head coach Erin Egolf stated, “Heidi is one of those players that you want on your team purely based on grit and tenacity. Every time I have seen her play, she works tremendously hard and leaves everything she has on the field. She will add depth to our backline and bring a competitiveness to our training sessions and games that we as coaches love to see. I am very glad Heidi is coming to UIS, and I am excited to see the good things she does during her time here.”
