Patrick Joseph Regan, age 70, a resident of the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno for the past seven years, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018, after a long illness.
Regan was born on July 16, 1947, in Taylorville. He graduated from Peotone High School in 1965 and following graduation enlisted in the US Navy.
He served two tours in Viet Nam as a Seabee CMA3 with the US Naval Mobile Construction Battalion en-US Pacific Fleet.
After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he moved to Phoenix, AZ, in 1972 where he owned and operated Regan Industrial Truck, a forklift repair company and was known as “the best forklift mechanic in the valley.”
He loved fast cars, drinking beer, telling stories, meeting new people, and exploring new places.
He is survived by his daughter, Sally Regan Erwin, of Chandler, AZ; his son, Samual Patrick (Julie) Regan, of Mesa, AZ; six grandchildren, Andrew, Hallie, and Justin Erwin and Samual, Aaron, and Morgan Regan; three sisters, Bee Robbins of Manhattan, Cathy (John) Nelson of Marco Island, FL, and Cynthia “Lou” (Tom) Hagemaster of Peotone; a sister-in-law, Judy Becker Regan of Peotone; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William J. Regan (September 17, 1969); his mother, Leenora Davis Regan (November 9, 2006); and a brother, Thaddeus “Ted” Regan (July 1, 2014).
Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Monday, January 15 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, January 16 from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Peotone on Tuesday, January 16 at 10:30 a.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service and committal services will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date.
