Panthers Trounce Streator, Fall to Peotone

On the road on Monday, January 30, Manteno had trouble shooting in the first half, going 7-29 from the field. As a result, the teams were tied at 18 at halftime. Fortunately, during the second half, the Panthers’ pressure defense created more opportunities to score in transition, and they were able to knock down a few more shots, which resulted in a 43-29 win for the Panthers.

On the night, senior Kylie Saathoff had 9 points and 5 rounds, sophomore Ava Peterson contributed 8 points, senior Katherine Gaffney added 4 points and 5 rebounds, while junior Sydney Sosnowski finished with 8 steals and 3 assists.
On Thursday, February 2, it was a different story, as Manteno lost their home conference game against Peotone, 38-66. The team was 10/12 from the free throw line and only scored in double digits in the second stanza.
In the contest, junior Sydney Sosnowski recorded 11 points (3/5, 3FG), 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals, while seniors Katherine Gaffney added 7 points and 4 rebounds, and Kylie Saathoff finished with 6 points. Sophomore Macy Iwanus recorded 6 points, junior Sara Schmidt – 4 points and 5 rebounds, and senior Drew Hosselton – 4 points for the Panthers.
