New Lenox Students Part of University’s ‘The Sun Serpent’ Production

Lewis University Philip Lynch Theatre’s February production will be “The Sun Serpent,” written by Jose Cruz Gonzalez. This historical and poetic story is about the hope and struggles to find the courage to persist against all odds, while portraying the strength of the human spirit. This play is recommended for patrons 13 years and up, with a running time of approximately 70 minutes.

Performances are on February 10-11, at 7:30 p.m., with a 2:30 p.m. matinee on February 12, plus February 16-17 at 7:30 p.m., with a 2:30 p.m. matinees on February 18-19. Tickets are $13 for adults and $12 for students and seniors and may be made online at www.lewisu.edu/plt.

“The Sun Serpent” cast features Lewis University students Justin Cordero, Eduardo Cortez, Brianna Hall, Saenovia Poole, Sergio Revuelta, Phoebe Rosa and Chloe Sheppard.

Director of this story of change Annie Calhoun leads the audience through the sequence of historical events and the emotions of those experiencing them. Set designer Andrew Nelson created an elaborate setting inspired by the history and culture of the Aztecs, while costumer Celeste Mackey conceived costumes inspired by the story of this culture. Working behind the scenes are Mackenzie Maher (stage manager), Molly Gustafson (assistant stage manager), Alex Schedel (sound design), and Dave Pomatto (assistant technical director).
