The Monee Board of Trustees has approved three percent pay raises for village staff, effective May 1.
The  building services manager, park director, Department of Public Works superintendent, human resources director, front office supervisor, DPW executive assistant, building services supervisor, IT manager, and deputy chief of police all will get pay hikes.
But the village administrator, police chief, and finance director will get an extra week of vacation instead of cost of living increases.
Salary hikes this time around were more modest than last year, when some staffers were given eight and 10 percent increases. Others on the village payroll saw three percent increases for 2022.
The pay hikes mean that Building Services Manager Romulus Biris will take home $83,430; Building Services Supervisor Lance Becvar, $53,560; IT Manager John Jones, $62,294; DPW Superintendent  Ed Johnson, $100,116; DPW Executive Assistant Jill Donati, $57,221; Front office supervisor Michelle Powell, $66,228: HR Director Judith Knabe, $82,400; and Parks and Recreation Director Dianna Kroll, $83,280.
Deputy Police Chief Anthony Lazzaroni’s new annual salary will be $108,292.03.
Also during the March 22 meeting, the board:
  • Heard Public Works Trustee Douglas Hornets report that repairs to the Court Street bridge are underway, and the bridge is expected to be closed for approximately three-to-four weeks. Detour signs will be posted. “So proceed with caution on that,” Horne said.
  • Heard Economic Development Trustee Michael Wilson congratulate Dunkin’ Donuts on the successful grand opening of its new stand-alone building on Monee-Manhattan Road.
  • Heard Public Services Trustee Scott Youdris report that the village’s Law Enforcement Appreciation Day will be held on Saturday, May 20, from 11 a.m.to 3 p.m., at Fireman’s Park. “It’s a great day to come out and show your support for our police officers and get to know them,” he said.
  • Approved a lease agreement with Lester Batterman for three parcels of vacant land to be used for growing and harvesting crops. The routine annual agreement is for $1 per parcel, from April through December, and Batterman will provide a certificate of liability/ insurance for $1 million.
  • Heard a presentation from Homewood Disposal outlining the waste disposal services they provide. Village Administrator Ruben Bautista noted the village’s contract with the current provider ends in May.
