Mayor Curtis to Host Annual Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway November 23

Spread the love

The City of Kankakee’s annual Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway, hosted by Mayor Christopher W. Curtis, will take place on Saturday, November 23, from 9 to 11 a.m., in the parking lot of the Kankakee Municipal Building. This year’s event again will provide free turkeys and traditional Thanksgiving side dishes to families in need, thanks to the generous support of local businesses and sponsors.

“The Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway has become a cherished tradition here in Kankakee, and we are proud to continue this important community initiative,” said Mayor Curtis. “Last year, we were able to serve more than 200 families and, with the rising cost of living and economic challenges facing so many in our community, it is crucial we continue to provide additional support. I’m grateful for our partners – Walmart, Berkot’s Super Foods, Kohl Apartment Rentals, and Jewel-Osco – for their continued generosity, as well as David Guzman and the volunteers who help make this event possible. We’re excited to see this event grow each year, as we work together to ensure all our neighbors have a memorable and special holiday.”

The Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway will be available to City of Kankakee residents on a first-registered, first-served basis. Interested individuals must register online to receive a meal.

How to Register: Residents wishing to participate in the giveaway should register in advance by visiting the official registration page: https://citykankakee-il.gov/turkeygiveaway. Residents with questions about the giveaway may contact David Guzman at the Mayor’s office via email at d_guzman@citykankakee-il.gov.

The event will take place rain or shine. Mayor Curtis and volunteers will be outside, ensuring every family receives their Thanksgiving meal, helping to make the holiday season a little brighter for those who need it most.
