In an abbreviated meeting, Mayor Tim Nugent reminded residents the deadline to apply for the property tax rebate is October 31. Applications submitted after the 31st will not be considered.

Nugent said 1,069 applications have been received for a total of $644,000 to be refunded to residents. Nugent reminded residents they must live within the village limits and not collect rent from the property. He added that there’s been 16 denials, and some didn’t even live in Manteno.

The annual audit review from Smith, Koelling, Dykstra & Ohm was presented. The net expenses for Fiscal Year 2022 were $7.3M. The net position ending Fiscal Year April 2022 was $50.1M. The overall net position of the village increased.

Village Administrator Chris LaRocque played the latest Manteno Matters video that included a bit from a resident who spoke highly of the previously owned golf course. Mayor Nugent suggested Sarah Marion, president of the Manteno Chamber of Commerce, review the content a little more closely before posting the videos, since it included outdated content. The village sold the golf course earlier this year.

All board members were thankful for the great turnout at Oktoberfest and thanked all who made it happen.
