At the Monday, June 20, Manteno Village Board meeting, Mayor Tim Nugent said the major portion of the construction work taking place along Main Street will be completed by the end of July, if the weather continues to cooperate.
During the meeting that lasted less than 20 minutes, trustees also approved an allocation of funds for the construction of an outdoor fitness court at Legacy Park. Most of the funding for the facility will come from a grant that Manteno was approved for by the National Fitness Campaign.  Local costs will total $100,000 but will be split between the Township and Village of Manteno. Construction would begin in July and be completed by the end of August.
In other business, the board approved spending $8,000 to help with the cost of the fireworks display at the Sportsmen’s Club at Legacy Park that will take place this year on Sunday, July 3, at dusk.
The board also approved a construction contract with Tenco Excavating of Bourbonnais for the South Creek Shared Use Path at a cost of $315,361, plus approved a contract with Knotts Masonry and Construction of Manteno for a masonry project at the new Legacy Park concession stand at a cost of $67,750.
