Historical Society Announces Gallery of Trees Winners, New Museum Hours
Beginning in January, the Kankakee County Museum, 801 S. Eighth Street in Kankakee, will be open to the public on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Group visits and guided tours may be scheduled any day of the week, if the museum is notified at least seven days in advance.
The Historical Society also announced winners of the 44th annual Gallery of Trees “Holiday Traditions” exhibit.
After votes were tabulated for adult voters, congratulations go to the following winners: First place – GFWC Woman’s Club of Kankakee, with the theme A Charlie Brown Christmas; second place – Uplifted Care, for Rudolph; and third place – Kankakee Kultivators, with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
In the children’s voting, the winners included: First place – Kappa Sigma Tau with A Child’s Christmas Memories; second place – GFWC Woman’s Club of Kankakee and A Charlie Brown Christmas, while third place honors were awarded to Kankakee Area YMCA with Making Memories.
More than 3,000 people visited the Gallery of Trees during December. Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to all organizations for their creativity and holiday spirit!
