Ferne (Guritz) Buck
Ferne (Guritz) Buck, age 92, died Wednesday, September 19, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ella and William Guritz; a sister, Ruby; brothers Vernon and Orville; and her husband, LeRoy.
She is survived by daughters, Kathy (Larry) Fullerton of Maricopa, AZ; Patricia Broederdorf, of Crystal Lake; four grandchildren, Justin (Kiki Okamoto) Broederdorf, of Los Angeles, CA; Alicia (Aaron Pederson) Broederdorf, of Seattle, WA; Heather (Brad) Free, of Tucson, AZ; and Sean Fullerton, of Maricopa, AZ; and one great-granddaughter, Simmone.
Buck was born on January 30, 1926, and lived in Goodenow before moving to Beecher when she was a young girl.
She attended Beecher schools where she met LeRoy.
They were united in marriage on November 16, 1946, by Rev. Harold Wunderlich, at Zion Lutheran Church, and were married for almost 70 years.
She owned Ferne’s Beauty Shop for 65 years, next to the “Nip n Sip.”
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy and Pat.
Ferne and LeRoy enjoyed traveling, having traveled to almost all 50 states. Other interests included dancing, playing Pinnocle and Farkle with friends and grandchildren.
Her other passions were watching the Bulls and game shows. Wheel of Fortune was a favorite because she could solve the puzzles long before anyone else.
After her husband’s death, Ferne resided at Village Woods Retirement Home, where she participated in the varied activities and met many wonderful friends.
