Delmer E. Mather, 86, of Peotone, formerly of Green Garden, died Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Manteno Springs Assisted Living Center in Manteno.
He was born on June 11, 1932, in Chicago. He was a lifelong farmer and also worked as a truck driver. He was a founding member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Frankfort, and was a former member of the Will County Auxiliary Police.
Mr. Mather is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lois M. Bettenhausen Mather, whom he married on April 14, 1951 at Zion Lutheran Church in Tinley Park; four children, Linda (the late Cal) Heflin of Peotone, Donna (Kenneth) Schroeder of Manhattan, Lane (Lydia) Mather of Frankfort, and Jay (Vivian) Mather of Manteno; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a foster brother, Ricard Pein of Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Edna Braasch Mather.
Visitation 9 a.m. until the hour of services at 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, at Good Lutheran Shepherd Church in Frankfort, with the Rev. Kevin Hahn officiating.
