Crete-Monee School Board Candidate: Jeanine Galbraith

Spread the love

I’m Jeanine Galbraith and I’m running for re-election as the District 4 CM201-U School Board member. I have lived in Crete for 31 years and have been married to my husband, Bill, for 37 years. I am retired from the Chicago Tribune after 40 years of service. I am a member of Crete Woman’s Club.

I have achieved the level of IASB Distinguished Board Member which is accomplished by attending conventions, training classes and seminars.
8 years ago I ran for the School Board as I felt the District lacked a solid foundation. I believe we now have a solid foundation that requires continuous work to maintain. Not only do I participate in classes and training for Board members but I also speak with employees/students for their input/ideas; I’ve been a member of many committees-currently on the District bargaining team for CMEA negotiations, previously on the District bargaining team for ACME negotiations. a member of the District Safety Committee, District Insurance Committee, Healing Paws Committee and attend the monthly First Responders meetings. I believe 3 areas that need to continually be addressed are: funding, facilities and curriculum (I’d like to see more trades classes introduced).I give my time and experience to this position because I care about the employees and providing the best educational opportunities to the students.Since I was elected in 2015 some of the major accomplishments our BOE has made are: NJROTC, manufacturing classes, Healing Paws Therapy Dog Program, Unity Kitchen, a balanced budget and the Community Mentoring Program.
