Crete-Monee School District 201-U is excited to announce that one of their very own football players Lynel Billups-Williams has been presented with the Chicago Bears “High School All-Star” Player of the Week Award. This award recognizes high school football players for on-field performance, community involvement, and good sportsmanship. Billups-Williams was nominated based on his performance against Joliet Catholic Academy during week five of the regular football season.

Billups-Williams, a senior wide receiver, helped lead the Crete-Monee Warriors to a 48-42 upset against Joliet Catholic Academy, giving the Academy their first defeat of the season. He verbally committed to Miami of Ohio and has an outstanding performance record with 12 catches for 256 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, along with throwing two 2-point conversion passes.

Chicago Bears Manager of Youth Football and Community Programs, Gustavo Silva, presented Lynel with this award on Monday, October 3, at the Crete-Monee game field and presented the team with a gift card to Buffalo Wild Wings. The whole team was able to enjoy dinner and celebrate this accomplishment. The Chicago Bears also will make a donation to a youth football program of Lynel’s choosing, which will be given to the local University Park Lions football organization. He will be honored in December at a Chicago Bears home game for his accomplishments on the field.

Crete-Monee School District 201-U’s Board of Education, staff, students and community are proud of Lynel Billups-Williams for being presented with this high honor award. Congratulations!
