2023 Manteno Property Tax Levy Gets Final Approval

By Stephen Nelson
The Manteno Village Board met December 5 for the sole purpose of giving final approval to raising the local property tax next year.
The levy will increase by 1.75 percent over this year, as it will be $33,169 greater, coming in at a total of $1,939,500.
The higher amount sought actually is less than the nearly $100,000 increase in Bourbonnais, but pales when compared with Bradley, which granted its citizens a zero percent increase. That village has found itself prosperous after passing a local one percent sales tax. However, all Kankakee County residents will see their taxes go up next year thanks to the recent approval of a 2.5 percent increase by the county board.
